I’ve done some changes in the post list in the front page, solve some CSS problem, added the thumbnail feature for post list in front page, archive, and search page, modify the comment list style, and added the WP-PageNavi plugin support. Pages and sub-pages in the top navigation bar are now shown automatically.
The Updates
Automatic page listing and new search button in navigation bar.
The new Arthemia can list pages in your blog automatically. Unlike the old one, you do not have to hard-code the PHP file if you update your page title and structures. Drop-down lists will show sub-pages so do not forget to assign the page parent in the page editing panel. I added a fixed-sized search button (the magnifier) to overcome CSS incompatibilities across browser. Anyway, there is a consequences of this automatic page listing feature, if you have too many pages in your blog, all of them will be displayed here and the design will break.
Minor changes in CSS styling.
I did some minor changes in heading styles especially for single post pages. I simplify the design and get rid of the icons. The WP-Email and WP-Print plugin are not used anymore in this theme due some incompatibility issues. To show the number of view in a post, you still need the WP-PageView plugin from Lesterchan.net. I added a black-colored breadcrumbs feature in every page, including single posts, pages, archive, and search page. If you want to show author name, category, and tags, you can edit the file single.php and add the commands.
Working thumbnails in front page, archive, search page.
Post are listed along with its thumbnails while the post list uses the excerpt feature from WP. By default, excerpt is the first 55 first words of the post content but due to some aesthetic consideration, I modify the function.php file to make custom excerpts showing 90 first words of the page. Thumbnails are now working in all pages and are generated automatically. It is 150 pixel-square-sized thumbnails, with a 1 pixel border, and 2 pixels padding. You can find these thumbails in the front page (bottom-left), archive page, and search page.
A new style of comment list.
I was a little bored with the old style of comment list so I do some minor changes in it. Gravatars now have borders and taken outside the gray comment box. The gravatar was 45 pixels square and I added 5 more pixels. If you want to modify the comment template to your own liking, you can go to the comment.php and style.css and edit the templates anyway you like it.

The smilies when used in the post also show borders. How to remove the border from the smiley only? I mean if we could create a class and define it when inserting a smiley. Because i like borders for rest of the pictures

I just wanted to say thank you for Arthemia2… this theme finally had a layout similar to what I had in mind for a total site redesign for http://www.wildhorse.com
The final version has some unique customization, but having your theme as a starting point was a wonderful thing!

That’s the default way to show pages in Arthemia2. Just do not install the plugin WP-PageNavi and it won’t show the page numbers.

well, you will never ever be able to do that if you do not create the page template as I do not include ANY page templates with Arthemia. You have to create the page template yourself. You can start by duplicating
page.php, name itsomething.php, and add a page-template identifier in the first line. Then you can modify the template anyway you like. About the WP commands to show archive by date and category, you can read WP documentation.Daus

I tried creating an archives page. There should be a displayed archives by date and category. I just follow the instructions I found on the net. I leave it blank but when I scrolled down the options there’s no Page Template. Was it my permalink structure that’s causing this? I use blog post title for my permalink.
I also have Brian Gardner’s Revolution ProMedia but as of now I’m quite content with Arthemia. I tried creating tabs using your Linolina codes but I can’t do it. Hehehe… My knowledge in php is not enough yet for that yet.

I thought i would write a thank you comment as after having actually purchased two multi-site licenses for other themes i have ended up using only this one.
Its a relief that the two plugins from Lester are no longer used as they were giving me errors in my first installation and i thought it was just me cos noone seemed to mention it.
Removing the icons is also nice, overall a worthy update specifically because of the thumbnails on front, archive and search pages. A winner.

I overwrite some of the files but did not change others so that my customization will still be maintained. I just have one problem even from the previous version, I can’t view my archives page.
please be careful when doing upgrade because you will have to reassign the categories in
index.php. Thumbnails are still using the “Image” custom field and I’m planning to make this standard so one should not have to worry about reassigning thumbnails for each post.Yes, I am the designer of Majari Magazine. Well, thank you for your suggestion. Check out my future themes.
This is amazing michael! I thought Arthemia was great but this even better. I’ll upgrade my site right away. BTW, was it you who made the theme for Majari Magazine? I like the categories section. If you can do the same for Arthemia… hehehe… I know that will be asking too much. But again, thank you very much for this theme. You deserve a donation from me.
